Pregnancy Support for Men.
So… she’s pregnant. First and foremost: take a breath.
Finding out your partner is unexpectedly pregnant can be just as terrifying for you as it is for her. You likely have a ton of questions about your role, your future, and how you should handle this. You don’t have to figure it all out today, and you don’t have to carry it alone. We are here to help guys in the Columbus area navigate this situation with confidence.
Your Next Steps: What to Do Right Now.
Your partner needs you now more than ever. How you react in these first few days will set the tone for everything that follows. Here is how you can step up and support her:
Listen to her (and actually hear her).
Ghosting her, blowing up, or leaving her on read isn’t going to make this go away. It will only make things harder for both of you. Have open conversations and let her express her fears without interrupting or getting defensive.
Be honest about your own feelings.
This isn’t the time to bury your emotions to look tough. Are you scared? Anxious? Confused? Say that. Chances are, she is feeling the exact same things. Knowing she isn’t alone in her panic will be a massive relief to her.
Gather the facts together.
Don’t rely on Google to figure out your options. Step up by offering to go with her to her first appointment. At Life Choices Pregnancy Care Center, we provide free, confidential pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and options consultations where you can both ask questions in a safe space.
Don’t pressure her.
Ultimately, the medical decision is hers. Saying “I’ll support whatever you decide” sounds helpful, but it often makes a woman feel like she has to carry the burden of the decision entirely by herself. Instead, say, “We are in this together, let’s look at all our options.”
