“I Might Be Pregnant”

Four words. Who knew they could cause so much fear in the heart of a guy? “I might be pregnant.” Has your partner/girlfriend recently said those words? If so, we have some help and advice for you.

What To Do Now

If you have suddenly learned your partner may be pregnant, here are a few things we suggest you do.

  • First of all, stay calm. Stick together in order to decide what to do next.
  • Verify the pregnancy. Come to Life Choices Pregnancy Care Center with her. Ask that she take a free, confidential pregnancy test to confirm the pregnancy.
  • If the test is positive, she should have a free ultrasound. The ultrasound will tell you if the pregnancy is viable (a heartbeat is detected) and how far along she is. Knowing the date of conception will help you both.
  • Learn about your options. Our client advocates are available for free consultations.
  • Listen to her feelings and share yours. Ask each other some important questions. “Are we ready to be parents?” “How do you feel about abortion?” “Would you consider making an adoption plan?” The decision can seem overwhelming, but talking it through and coming to a mutual decision is best for everyone.
  • Schedule an appointment at Life Choices just to talk. Come by yourself if you would like. We want to help both of you.

What Not To Do

In light of learning about the unexpected pregnancy, there are a number of things you should not do.

  • Do not bail on her. Running from the decision just makes it harder to think and act in everyone’s best interest.
  • Do not pressure her. Now is the time to talk and work through this together.
  • Do not forget to take your share of the responsibility. You played a role in this situation and you owe it to her to see it through.

Help for Men and Fathers

If you and your partner/girlfriend choose to-parent, either together or separately, we offer some educational opportunities to prepare you as a man and for your future as a dad.

A Man and His Design –

This series inspires and equips men to pursue authentic manhood as modeled by Jesus Christ.  Each participant will learn the four “faces” of manhood, to anticipate, and transition through the seasons of life.

A Man and his Fatherhood –

Being a dad is one of the most important and influential roles a man could have. However, being a good dad doesn’t always come naturally.  This series helps dads think strategically. It equips you with insights that will guide you through key decisions and the challenges of fatherhood.

Practical Fatherhood –

Some of the topics covered include discipline, role-modeling, and spending time with the family. The study focuses on doing what is right for your child(ren), along with inspiration for those difficult moments. It is perfect for fathers who are expecting or who already have children below the age of 18.
